Celebrating the release of her new album "Meridians," pianist/composer Valerie Mih brings a brilliant mix of modern jazz, electronic ambience and jam band improv to the stage. Her trio features Eric Marshall on bass and Andre Custodio on drums, with Valerie on piano, keyboard, voice and accordion, and special guest Alex Yeung on electric guitar. A glowing album review in NeuFutur Magazine states that "Valerie Mih does not need anything in the way of vocals to tell a narrative, ensuring that listeners are taken for a journey...The types of genres and styles that Mih approaches during this CD is impressive. Valerie Mih and her Circular Dreaming trio help to "get out the vote" in this free musical elections event! Several bands perform 30 minute sets throughout the evening. Show runs from 5-9pm - Circular Dreaming performs after 6:30pm. Featuring Valerie on keyboards, Eric Marshall on bass and Andre Custodio on drums. Free and open to the public.

The Eddie Gale Inner Peace Orchestra performs the Concert for World Peace at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Santa Cruz (900 High Street, Santa Cruz, CA). Admission is free with the donation of a non-perishable food item to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz.

Eddie is flying in guest musicians from New York and New Orleans for this special show. Valerie will be performing in the 10pm show (ticket price $10).

Sunday represents the second of two sublime days of free music in bucolic Washington Square Park featuring San Jose jazz legend and Sun Ra sideman Eddie Gale. The jams will be in full effect due to the efforts of Bay Area favorites New Monsoon and LEBO (Dan Lebowitz Group) and San Diego's On the One. Also appearing will be local jazz hero Gregory James, DJ Tom Thump and MC Sterling James.

We close out the festival with an evening set by San Jose's jazz ambassador, Eddie Gale. A longtime Sun Ra Arkestra member and compatriot of John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins, Gale is among the foremost jazz artists ever to reside in the Bay Area. We are honored to welcome him for his first-ever appearance at North Beach Jazz Fest on Sunday afternoon, and evening.
